Trending on a Budget

7/5/2018

While I like to think that I can buy anything I want since I have a job, the reality is that college is a thing and food is expensive. So even though buying new clothes is a necessity in my book, I find myself turning away from those expensive name brands to affordable off brands more often than ever as bigger priorities come into view.

Still wanting to stay on trend as the summer goes on, I've resorted to going to stores that have the best of both worlds. Here are some of the outfits I was able to come up with from stores like Ross, Old Navy, and TJ Maxx.

Button Up + Cargo Pants

Pairing a tied button up with a pair of black cargo pants, this look can be worn on both fancier occasions and casual- depending on if you dress it up with heels or down with a pair of sneakers. The cargo pants were at TJ Maxx for $19.99 and the shirt was $14.99.

Overalls + Long Sleeve Tee

Overalls are an awesome thing to have in your closet, especially since you can wear pretty much any top with them and you can automatically have an great outfit. I was able to get the overalls at TJ Maxx for $16.99 and the stripped shirt for $7.99.

Denim Jacket + Denim Skirt + White Off the Shoulder

This denim on denim outfit was one of my favorite outfits out of this post. Casual yet cute, you can wear an outfit like this if your going out to eat or out with friends. The jacket was $34.00 at Old Navy, the skirt was $14.99 at TJ Maxx, and the top was $11.99 at Ross.

Crop Top + Fitted Pants

For a dressier look, I mixed this plain navy shirt with a pair of stripped, fitted pants. The shirt was $9.99 at TJ Maxx and the pants were on sale at Old Navy for $27.

Jumpsuit + White Tee

This last look was a combo of a army green jumpsuit and a plain white T-shirt. Both found at Ross, the jumper was $9.99 and the top was only $4.99.

Saving money or just being smart about what you buy can be rough sometimes, especially if you like having name brand things. But if you ditch the name brands and look for the same styles in different places, I truly believe you can still be trending, but on a budget.
