Rant (verb) - to speak or shout at length in a wild, passioned way. Just about year ago, I was entering my first year of high school with high hopes for the future. With classes planned out, summer assignments completed, and a good group of friends by my side; I was ready to conquer the whole 'high school' thing. Right? Well not exactly. As I entered my first-period class that fall morning, I was missing one thing- My identity. In that first-period class, we started out our day with a 'get to know you' icebreaker. Going around the room, we were each supposed to say our name, grade, and an interesting fact about ourselves. "This is going to be easy," I thought to myself, "My name is Jenna, I am a freshman in high school, and an interesting fact about me is that I..." I was stumped. Sitting and listening to my new classmate's talk about themselves got me thinking, what's interesting about me? I mean yes I could've said any number of facts about myself, and I could've been content with any of those answers. But being me, I wasn't satisfied with just some mediocre answer, like how "my favorite color is red" or how "I like to go to the beach". No, I had to have something interesting about myself, that people would remember me by. Although that morning in my first-period class got me thinking hard about who I was and all, I never really gave that question another thought until about eight months later. What happened eight months later, you may ask? It has something to do with inspiration, but we'll get back to that in a second. All throughout that first year of high school, I made new friends, got straight A's, traveled to a state competition for one of the clubs I was in, and had made it through freshman year without too much drama in my life. I had experienced some pretty cool things and had grown in so many ways. But even though so much had occurred in that time, none of it was able to answer that one question- "What's something interesting about you?". I was still the same old me, with nothing too interesting to tell. Luckily for me, this was all about to change. It was late April when teachers began handing out extra homework to 'prepare' us for the finals that were rapidly approaching us. As an ever increasing pile of homework built up in my room and shifts at work wore on, I started to get less sleep and more stress. So, like any other teenager, instead of getting stuff done, I set aside the homework for a while just to relax. And in that time, inspiration struck. I had found the answer to that question. Scrolling through Pinterest, I clicked on an external link by accident. Leading me to a woman's blog, my computer had brought me to a new world. The world of blogging, if you will. Her posts gave advice on all things fashion and lifestyle, and I instantly fell in love with the idea. Within days I was thinking up names for the site, writing out post ideas, and coming up with different layout designs. And in little to no time, I was publishing my website. Being a blogger hasn't been the easiest thing in the world. But because of Lifestyle Rant, I have found my identity. What once was just me staying up to date on trends and styles, has now become a full-fledged passion of mine. And through that driving passion, I am able to help those around me and talk about what I think through this outlet that I call Lifestyle Rant.
So with this, I can now say that my name is Jenna, I am now a sophomore in high school, and an interesting fact about me is that I blog.
